Course Overview

In England, you will gain an accredited Level 2 qualification.
In Scotland, this course is comparable to a Level 5 based on the Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework. Upon completion of the course, learners in Scotland will receive a digital e-certificate issued by your college.

In this unit your employees will be introduced to themes of inclusion, human rights, advocacy, empowerment and active participation, as well as the importance of communication in working with individuals who have learning disabilities.
Unit 2: Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
Within this unit your employees will understand the importance of safeguarding individuals from abuse, the signs and symptoms that might indicate abuse is occurring and how your employee should respond to suspected or alleged abuse.
Unit 3: Introduction to personalisation in social care
This unit will introduce your employees to how personalisation affects the provision of social care settings, including the systems, skills and support needed to implement personalised provision.
Unit 4: Principles of positive risk-taking for individuals with disabilities
Within this unit, your employees will develop their knowledge of the importance of positive risk-taking for individuals with disabilities and how to take a person-centred approach to enabling individuals to take risks, whilst balancing risk-taking with duty of care.
Unit 5: Introductory awareness of autistic spectrum conditions
This unit will provide your employees with key areas of knowledge on autistic spectrum conditions and explore themes such as individuality, communication, behaviour and person-centred support.
Unit 6: Principles of supporting individuals with a learning disability to access healthcare
Within this unit, your employees will understand the legislation, policies and guidance relevant to individuals with a learning disability accessing healthcare and identify the roles and responsibilities of professionals working in different types of healthcare services.
